Q: Is limb salvage surgery right for me?

If you are facing the difficult decision of whether or not to amputate, limb salvage surgery is an option to be considered. This surgical procedure removes only the affected bone and surrounding soft tissue, replacing it with healthy bone grafts, metal implants, or a combination of these. The limb is spared and function restored to the highest possible level.

Physical therapy is recommended for successful rehabilitation and to achieve optimal function of the limb. With limb salvage surgery, amputation can be avoided, and in time, it is possible to return to activities that you love.

To decide if limb salvage surgery is right for you, contact Dr. Raymond A. DiPretoro, Jr. of the Advanced Foot and Ankle Center, Inc. at (302) 623-4250, or visit one of three convenient locations in Newark, Glasgow, and Wilmington, DE.
